 Tara's Background




Tara is the wife of the monkey king Bali (also known as Bali) and the daughter of the sage Brihaspati. Her story is related to the events of the great war between Bali and his brother Sugriva.

 

Conflict between Bali and Sugriva

Bali and Sugriva were once close brothers, who ruled the Vanara (monkey) kingdom together. However, a rift arose between them mainly due to misunderstandings and a series of unfortunate incidents. Bali was cursed to be a powerful warrior who could never be defeated in battle, while Sugriva was left to fend for himself.

 

Tara's role

Tara is known for her intelligence and wit. When the conflict between Bali and Sugriva escalated, Tara tried to intervene and bring peace. He is deeply distressed by the hostility between the two brothers and the unfolding events test his loyalty to Bali.

 


Battle and Tara's Sorrow

During the war between Bali and Sugriva, Bali was seriously injured by Lord Rama,  who had made an alliance with Sugriva. Tara is heartbroken after losing her husband. Her grief is compounded by worry about the future of her son, Angad, and the kingdom.

After Vali's death, Tara plays an important role in guiding the surviving members of the monkey kingdom. She provides sage advice and supports Sugriva in consolidating his rule. Her wisdom helps ensure that the kingdom remains stable and that her son Angad is well cared for.
